Beaux Wellborn graciously let us borrow his stage and a few minutes of his first Miss Highland Park pageant to crown Kelsey Suggs as Miss Plano 2009. For those who didn’t know, Andrea Brown who was crowned back in November, suffered an injury at our pageant that night, and the doctors have said she will not be able to dance for several months. She made the decision to give up her crown because she felt she wouldn’t be ready by July to compete. However, we have welcomed Andrea to join the MPFO board and help prepare Kelsey as well as the others for Miss Texas. Click here for more photos!!

Kappa Kathryn!
This past week (Jan 5th-9th) was such a rush- sorority rush, that is! After a week of “recruitment parties”, I cannot even begin to tell you my excitement when I opened my envelope to see that Kappa Kappa Gamma had invited me to be a part of their sorority! My pledge class consists of 62 girls who are all beautiful, smart, and so much fun to be around. Also, here’s a fun fact for you: Jean Bartel (Miss America 1943), Gretchen Carlson (Miss America 1989), and Stacy James (Miss Texas 2001) are all former Kappa’s. So it looks like I’m in good company! ~Kathryn Dunn, Miss Frisco 2009

2008 came to a perfect close as I joined 19 other pageant competitors from across to country at the Eagle U’s “Mental Toughness for Pageantry” seminar. Led by Lanny Bassham and Heather Sumlin, this seminar was such an asset to my preparation for the Miss Texas pageant! This week covered everything from the importance of a positive self-image, communication skills, and goal setting, to interview techniques and on-stage modeling. Although the “Mental Toughness for Pageantry” seminar marked the end of 2008, it opened the doors of a new mindset as I embark on 2009! Thank you Eagle U for the Scholarship that was awarded to me so that I could attend such a life-changing seminar. Kathryn Dunn ~ Miss Frisco 2009

Just wanted to share with everyone that I got to fly a helicopter on new years day. It was so… much fun but I was a little scared!!!! My family went out to our ranch in west Texas and celebrated New Years. I hope everyone had a Great Holiday season and I wish you all good for the 2009 New Year!! Hope to see all the pageant family at the meeting on Sunday. I’ll keep working on my flying ability and maybe someday I’ll really learn to FLY!!!!
