Lone Star Princess “Tea Party” in January

03.31.09

Back in January Miss Plano, Miss Frisco, Teen Plano and Teen Frisco hosted a “Tea Party” with our past Lone Star Princesses and little girls they were courting to become LSP for 2009.

Past LSP in attendance were:  Elle, Kristin, Caitlin, Marissa, and new girl Auburn.  Our past LSP have signed up to be LSP again this year and we are still hoping to have Auburn join us.  Auburn is in competition dance and has a big week following the week of Miss Texas, so her schedule is still under review.

At the Tea party, Kristin’s mother, Cindy gave us some insight on what “Tea time” in England is like.  As a little girl she lived in England for a time.  She told us how formal “tea time” was; ladies wore hats and gloves, even left the gloves on to eat!  It was usually served in the early afternoon and was considered “supper” for the children as they would be put to bed before the adults had theirs late in the evening usually after about 8pm.

Using note cards the titleholders asked the little girls trivia questions about etiquette and basic social skills.  For our “Tea” we had little mini sandwiches, animal crackers, pretzels, and fruit with Lemonade as our “tea”.

Thank you to Leigh Ann and Caitlin for being hostess’ for this fun time!!  Click here for photos!!

Taylor’s Trip to Miss America in January

03.24.09

Fulfilling the requirements for the incentive program was hard work, but the trip to Las Vegas was rewarding and made the time and effort worth it.

We explored the city, went shopping, and tasted every dessert that exists!

I loved getting to know the girls and am happy I got the chance to be around them away from pageant week.

We also got to spend time with Lydia and Jean and I have to say… those two ladies know how to have fun!

I recommend the program to all the contestants and can assure that you won’t regret getting involved.

Can’t wait to see everyone at Spring Meeting!!!!! Click here for photos!!

Teen Frisco spends Spring Break in Colorado

03.24.09

Oh my GOSH!! I cannot believe my favorite trip of the year is over!!! :( I had the best time of my life.

This is such a special trip because our family, plus four extra friends, gets to spend the entire week together.

I took a snowboarding lesson so I could ride as FAST as my Big Brothers!! They still beat me down the mountain, but I really improved a lot!! I still went faster than most the guys on the slopes.

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day while we were there which was alot of fun!!

I also had a couple of friends from Lufkin who were there with their families. I guess I’ll have to just look forward to next year!!!  Click here for more photos!!

Taylor helps with 4-H Style Show

03.24.09

I was asked by a supervisor of the Angelina County Extension Agency to help a group of twelve Angelina 4-H members to prepare for their annual style show.

They choose to participate by either off the rack choice or by hand made pattern and have to model their outfits in front of judges.

I had to teach them to walk and the modeling pattern. It was so fun to see the excitement of the kids because a "Queen" was teaching them for for their style show! Anytime I get a chance to help out an organization like this I always LOVE it!!!!

The last meet was raining and very cold as you can see!!!! :(

When I was in Colorado my Coach told me that I had to run, I thought I was going to DIE!!!!!!! But I guess it was good training??? Hopefully I will get to go to regionals and maybe state; keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Kathryn Makes Frisco a Healthier Town… One School at a Time!

03.16.09

This past week I visited the different elementary schools in Frisco, to teach the children about the importance of eating healthy and exercise. I told them the reasons why they should pursue a healthy lifestyle, how to go about doing it, and even taught them some fun exercises to do at home! They got to taste some yummy vegetables and play a game of “Nutritional Bingo.” Everyone was really excited about starting their new healthy habits, and one girl told me that she “couldn’t wait to do the exercises with her friends at Recess!” I was glad that I got to meet all the kids and encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle. ~Kathryn Dunn, Miss Frisco 2009

Miss Frisco Returns to Scottish Rite Hospital

03.16.09

The Scottish Rite Hospital is a world leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions. Through the generous support of friends in the community, all services are provided without charge to patient families. The Scottish Rite Hospital holds a very special place in my heart because this is where I went back in 2002, to receive treatment for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was so happy to be able to return as Miss Frisco to spent time with the patients!

We spent the morning playing UNO and Skipbo, (they won), and told each other some of our favorite jokes (Do you know what the strongest bird is? A crane!) It was such a blessing to meet the children, and their strength inspires me in so many ways.

For more information about the Scottish Rite Hospital and how you can help a child receive treatment, go to: Scottish Rite Website
