Adrianna competed for the title of Miss Texas in July and performed the inspirational vocal number How Great Thou Art for her talent.
She was awarded 2nd RU to Miss Texas 2008 and was a Talent and Swimsuit preliminary winner and received the overall Evening Gown award as well.
Platform: Abstinence is the Answer
Sometimes in order to be a part of the “in crowd” tremendous peer pressure is applied, thus encouraging us to participate in what others are doing who are a part of the so called "in crowd". Webster's Dictionary defines the word abstinence as the “act or practice of refraining.” While abstinence is often referred to as the decision of not having sex, abstinence also refers to consciously deciding not to smoke, saying no to drugs and to not drink alcohol. In other words, abstinence means to refrain from doing anything that could be destructive to your body or could succeed in destroying the goals and objectives you have set.
We all come across times in our life where we feel like we don’t’ fit in. “Fitting in” can occur anywhere and at any age. To abstain is always the right answer when you feel that by participating you will regret your actions later. Whether a person is young or old, understand that when a situation arises, which involves whether to or not to participate in a destructive activity, then the simple answer is to abstain. It is important to stand strong and say “No”. You are not alone. What you are is thinking wisely before you act.
